End of school and awards

So, for the past 4 years we have had a graduation to attend.
2015 - Truett's preschool graduation
2016 - Paisley's preschool graduation
2017 - Truett's  kindergarten graduation
2018 - Paisley's kindergarten graduation.
I am happy to say that we are now finished with graduations for at least 5 years (if Truett has an elementary graduation).

Here are some pictures from Paisley's graduation this past Tuesday.

This first one is Paisley's best friend, Sofia.  She got to direct the audience in singing the national anthem of Indonesia.

They had a prayer from four of the major religions in Indonesia.  The lady on the far right is my good friend Intan, Sofia's mom.

The second in line is Paisley's friend Miyuki.

And now Paisley lines up

Sofia isn't looking too interested in graduation . . . until she smiles . . . and sticks out her tongue!

Then her class did a performance of "Timun Mas," which means cucumber boy.  Paisley was a narrator.

I think these two were supposed to be guarding the baby in the cucumber.

These are the cucumber boy's grandparents.

 Then a fun dance.

We tried to take pictures with Sofia and her family afterwards.  It's much more fun to be silly than to smile nicely.

I took pictures of the kids on the last day of school.  I made sure they wore the same clothes that they wore on their first day of school in Robinson.  You never notice how much your kids change until you see pictures side by side like this.

No, Truett doesn't actually have a mohawk, he just styled it like that for the picture.

The kids have gotten some pretty great awards this year.

Both kids were named members of The Grit Squad at Robinson.  It means they work hard and stick with it.  I only got pictures of Paisley in her Grit Squad shirt.

Paisley got a "PRIDE" award for the first 9 weeks of school.  Hers was for integrity.

Truett got a "PRIDE" award for the second 9 weeks.  His was for excellence.

And just as a little added bonus, let me tell you about how well my boy did in school this second semester.  All of his classes were in Indonesian, except for 3 classes per week.  Yes, his teachers were super helpful and translated a ton for him.  He made A's and B's in all of his subjects, except the Indonesian language class and the Javanese language class (but he sure did great in the English language class!!)  However, at the end of the school year, they have "thematic" tests over all of the material that they learned that semester.  I'm not exactly sure why it's called a thematic test, but there are 3 tests that they take over three days.  Each tests has components of all of the subjects they studied.  His teachers did NOT translate these tests for him.  His average of all of the subjects on these three tests were 90, 95, and 94 IN A ANOTHER LANGUAGE!!!!  And, making this math teacher proud, he scored 100 on the math portion each day.  This kid is amazing!

Paisley did great this semester, too, but kindergarteners aren't given grades.  She did make student of the month, though!
