First Day of School and Another Award

1st and 2nd grade, here we come!

All smiles on the way to school

Testing out options on my new phone.

And all smiles at the end of the day as we pick up the kids

On Thursday afternoon, we got an email from the kids' school telling us that we were invited to an assembly on Friday morning.  They were having an award ceremony for the second semester of LAST school year.  We were invited because we have a student getting an award, but we were not told what the award was.  How exciting!

All of the elementary school kids were at the assembly.

Paisley's friend, Sofia, has the look on her face that represents how we were all feeling.

And our very own Truett was given the English Excellence Award!  I guess we should have figured that.

I like the way Truett's friend next to him is looking at him.

Look at Truett signing "I love you" to us!

Transmart and a Road Trip

There is a store in town called Transmart that is . . . hmmm . . . I guess the best thing to compare it to is a multilevel Walmart.  The top floor is a kids' arcade.  The best part of it is a roller coaster that goes outside the building.  So much fun!  I didn't take a picture of it, so I snagged some off the internet.

When Michael was out of town last, we took a trip Transmart with our friend Meta.  We had lots of fun!

Truett loves to play those claw games.  This time he won a cat for Paisley.  He's such a good big brother!  She loves it and sleeps with it most every night.

I used to love the giant swings!  I'm afraid they would now make me sick.

 Then they went "fishing."

And this is what they "caught."

And last is bumper cars.

 BUMP

Last summer we spend some time in Kansas (with Michael's family) and Iowa (with some of my incredibly great friends).

Packed car.

A few pit stop selfies.

Another pit stop photo session.

We found a Bass Pro Shop.

I'm not sure where these pictures are from.  Aren't these two cute little girls.

Truett lost a tooth eating ice cream at Dairy Queen  in Kansas.  Since we were with Grandpa, he gave Tru $20, of course!  We also tried to incorporate a little Indonesian tradition.  In Indonesia, if a bottom tooth is lost, the kid throws the tooth on the roof.  If a top tooth is lost, the tooth it put under the floor.  Truett lost a top tooth, but we still threw it on top of the Dairy Queen!

Kansas City is home of Hallmark.  At their head quarters, they have a creative center where they put a bunch of their left over card making supplies for kids to play with. It was great fun!  I think Grandma had fun, too!

Grandma and Grandpa love to take the kids to Chuck E Cheese.

We had the most wonderful time in Iowa.  It's good to spend time with friends!

We went for a hike one day.

 Look at these cute kids!

So much of our time in Iowa was spent hanging out, much of it in the back yard playing Corn Hole.

 S'mores!!!

We went to the beach one day (okay, okay, it was just a lake with a sandy shore).

The kids went to VBS together while the grown ups got spend some time together.

Yep, the kids were worn out after the week.  But, boy, did we have fun!!!
