First Day of School

The kids are back in school!  We started the year with in person school.  The kids are so glad to be back!  They were masks and face shields all day, except during snack time and lunch time.  They have to stay socially distanced, even during break time and PE.  They can only walk in certain directions around the entire building.  But, you know what?  They haven't complained a bit.

Truett is in Year 5 (4th grade) and Paisley is in Year 4 (3rd grade).  Last year they were in the same classroom, but this year they are in separate rooms.  Truett's teacher is from Australia.  Paisley's teacher . . . well, she doesn't technically have a teacher.  Because the country is closed, new teachers have not been able to get into the country.  So, many teachers from around the school take turns teaching her class.

I'm also teaching up there each morning.  I'm enjoying being back in the classroom, especially since I'm back to teaching math.  It's just part time, but it sure is taking up a lot of time (hence the reason there have been so few blog posts recently!).

April to August

Found these pictures . . .

There was some challenge involving touching your ears and toes at the same time???

Dirty face = fun afternoon

Masks won't keep us from getting our gelato!
The kids' best friends moved to Jakarta, so we had them over for Mexican food and a pinata before they left!

My mom sent me a dress I wore when I was Paisley's age.  So, we did a little photo shoot.  It was impromptu, so please disregard her unbrushed hair (although, that is how she spent most of the quarantine time!)

Can you tell what Paisley is wearing?  It's a pair of Truett's pajama pants that split open!  She loved this new shirt!

Ice Cream Break!!

Paisley made pancakes with chocolate melted on top for breakfast for Michael and me one day.

Love this girl

And I love my boy!  He called my mom and had her help him with a list of things he could buy me for my patio.  He's got the sweetest heart!

Michael's Birthday and Camping

Yes, I know it was almost 2 months ago, but . . . better late than never?

On Michael's birthday, we went to the Hyatt.  The morning started with Michael flying his drone to help the Hyatt with an Instagram story.  We got to go into some suites (the kids don't ever want to stay anywhere else now!) and up on the roof.  Michael enjoys his drone, especially when he can do something with it for other people.  Afterwards we spent some time playing at the pool.  It was a fun day!

Then we went camping.  What an adventure!  We drove for 2 hours just to find that the campground was closed, as were the other 2 nearby.  We almost camped out in someone's backyard, but ended up finding a little road off the side of the mountain and just pitching a tent!

Looks pretty nice, right?

There was a little roadside place close by.  We walked there to get some "cup o' soup" for dinner.

We went back to the campsite for s'mores and a movie in the tent.

The next morning, the kids and I went on a little hike while Michael made breakfast.

Michael bought the kids hammocks to hang out in.  They sure enjoyed them!
