We have an 8 year old!

My favorite boy turned 8 last week!  His birthday was on Thursday, but Wednesday was a school holiday . . .  that made for a perfect birthday party.  What a day to celebrate!
Truett only wanted his best friends at the party, Paul and Zahra.  We also invited Paul's younger brother and our neighbor (but she ended up not being able to come).

So, Truett wanted an "SSMP" party.  What is SSMP?  Super Secret Monster Patrol.  He read about it in one of his books and took it to school.  He and his friends are part of the SSMP.  So, of course, that's what his party had to be.

We played lots of monster themed games.  The first was Monster Hunt.  I printed out 24 monsters and the kids had to go find them in the correct order and take pictures.  It was boys against girls and I'm not quite sure who won, but they sure had fun running through the house taking pictures!

We played Monster Bingo with googly eyes as the bingo markers.

Monster Bowling

Feed the Monster

Ohhh, and their favorite, Monster Water Fight

Here are some action shots of the games.

We also had a Monster Photo Booth.

We walked to McDonald's for lunch.

Then back home to open a few presents.

Time for the birthday cake.  If you're confused what it is supposed to be, don't worry.  It's they symbol Truett made up for the SSMP,

And last, the best part of the party.  The Monster Water Fight.  Paisley and I filled up water balloons and water guns before the party.  Half the kids were behind the SSMP wall with water balloons, while the other half was approaching the wall with water guns.  Oh how much fun they had!!!
