Show and Tell / Ballet

The second graders at the school get invite their parents up for a time of Show and Tell.  They work on it at school for weeks.  It's a good idea, but wasn't implemented too well.  They brought us all in to the gym, separated the kids into about 8 groups and we sat and watched the group with our kid in it.  It was too loud to even hear what our kids were saying.  Luckily, Truett was in a group with his two best friends, which was nice.
Truett talked about this little pup he named Retriever.  If you remember, he was paid to be in a movie a few months ago.  This is what he chose to spend his money on.  It was about $40 and Michael and I thought that was too much for this little thing.  But, it was his money and it's what he wanted, so he bought it.  It ended up that was the best use of his money.  He and Paisley love that dog!

Paul and Zahra, Truett's best friends.  Paul is French/Indonesian and Zahra is African/Indian/Indonesian.

Paisley had a little ballet exam recently.  She scored "highly commended," and I believe she and her best friend had the highest grades in the class.  She loves to dance!  She's moving her body every chance she has.

Getting Creative

Do you remember a couple of months ago, Paisley and I went with some friends to a village nearby?  We did lots of fun traditional thing, but we also went to a pine forest.  Paisley LOVED picking up the pinecones and was so excited for Christmas to come around so we could paint them.  Well, it has finally come around and we decided to do a little pinecone painting and glittering!

These girls are the best of friends!

Truett has a book about science experiments.  One day Paisley was interested in finding one to do.  So we learned how to color paper.
(I realize Paisley is wearing the same dress as in the other pictures, but it's a different day)

Gathering supplies

Reading the instructions

Mashing up the chalk

Adding the chalk to oil (and probably some glitter, too.  You can never have too much glitter, right?)

Dipping the paper

Maybe one day we will actually write letters on these papers!

Lots of Pictures

Here's a bunch of random pictures from the past couple of months.  I might have posted some of these already.

The yellow heart painted on the wall behind the kids is special to our family.  Ask us about it sometime.

The kids love to have toy picnics.  They take the mat outside and as many toys as they can carry.

Typical for my kids.  Paisley making a funny pose and Truett reading.

I'm not sure what she was getting all fancied up for, but this girl loves to wear my makeup!

 Ready for a school performance.

Indonesia had a holiday (we have many), so we gathered our friends and had a cook out.

I don't know why the kids love to wear jackets in the heat here!

We made some creative jewelry out to the banana leaves in our front yard.

They finally broke open their piggy bank!  It totaled about $8.

 Typical Sunday night dinner.

One of Paisley's friends has a new baby sister.  The little one has on a sleeper that looks just like one Paisley  had when she was little.

 Our Bible study group.

We had to take some passport pictures, so we decided to have a little fun!

One of our favorite restaurants.  Paisley is reading under the stars.

No caption for this one.

At the movies!  No, not all movie theaters are like this.  We probably had to pay a whole $5 each for this upgraded experience!

Oh, yes, those weeks when our water wasn't working and I washed dishes outside.

They are adorable together!

We always have pizza and a movie on Saturday nights.  Often, our neighbor joins us.

The school was celebrating something about the moon (Chinese festival, maybe???), so we had to go out and take a picture with the moon and send it to the school.

She's becoming a good little dish washer! Truett clears the table and Paisley rinses the dishes.

How many pictures do you have to take to get a good one???

Paisley was Student of the Month for he class in September.

We have a little storeroom at the back of our house.  The kids decided they wanted it to be their hideout.  I love how they're using it as a reading nook!  (not quite sure what's going on with the pillow around Paisley's neck!)

Michael gets asked to speak all the time.  He often speaks at Christian student gathers at one of the many universities here.  I usually don't go with him, but his time I did.  Perhaps it was a bad decision . . . I fell asleep!!!

Truett loves to draw!  The ceiling and his wall are covered with his pictures.

Ohhhhhh, this is a fun one!  "Hey mom, let's get out all the Uno cards and add them all together!"  YES!!!

Three missing front teeth!

We met up with some friends for a picnic of donuts before church one Sunday afternoon.

Kids often have birthday parties at play places in the malls.
