Truett's Birthday

I don't think I've shared these pictures, yet.  Right before Truett's birthday, the world shut down.

We had already mentioned having an early birthday for him, but decided against it.  We had two young adults from our ministry coming over for dinner that night, so Paisley and I decided to make Truett a birthday cake to celebrate.Truett wanted a Texas themed cake . . .

Paisley was a good little cake making helper.

Then, on his actual birthday, he wanted an ice cream cake.  We turned it in to a lego cake.  It didn't end up quite like I wanted, but it tasted good! (actually, those pictures above are of Paisley helping me make this cake)

 The birthday boy!

We drove by several of his friends' houses so they could shout "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to him.  They made posters, blew up balloons, and one family even made him some cookies.

We've talked about having a real birthday party once the world calms down.  He's already requested a pizza themed cookie cake.  That's three cakes for one birthday.  Not too bad!

Last Day of School

Let me tell you about this school year for our kids.  The kids are in a small school.  Small enough that they combine classes.  So, Truett and Paisley are in the same classroom, but still in separate grades.  They learn some same topics and some different.  So, this year . . . the year started with their teacher on maternity leave.  So, for the first 4 or 6 weeks of school they didn't really have a teacher.  Other teachers came and helped out and their assistant teacher was their.  After that, their teacher came back, but left at the end of the teacher.  So, in comes a new teacher.  However, after 2 months, I became their teacher.  What a year!!!

Let me first show you their first day of school pictures . . .

Here are the last day of school pictures . . .

Yes, yes, Truett's curls are quite long.  That same afternoon, we took him to get a haircut (I had already given him a "Corona cut" a couple of months ago).  He didn't want to brush his hair anymore and decided a hair cut would be the easier option.

These Days

These days we spend most of our time at the house or at the swimming pool.  But here are some of the ways we've been keeping busy.

Paisley came up with the best way to cut onions without crying.

Celebrating Paisley's 7 and a half birthday with Mickey (kinda) pancakes.

Truett loves making comics.  This is on of my favorites.  The superhero is FingerMan and the villain it ToeMan!

Playing with rice krispies in the front yard.

I'm not even sure about this one!

A walk to McDonalds for ice cream.  We waited outside while Michael went in to buy it.

This is how he reads.

Yep, we've done some schoolwork, too.

I don't exactly remember what was going on in this picture.  They moved the couch, the drawers, and a ladder over to the upstairs balcony just to look out.

 I love my Paisley!

I'm pretty sure he drew a muscle man on this!  ha!

This boy loves to invent things!  Here's his drinking hat.

Paisley and I had fun decorating some cookies.

In June, we finally let the kids play with some neighbors.  Playing outside is good for the soul!

Our 10 year anniversary was not quite the celebration that we wanted, but it was still special!

We collected food and money for those in our ministry who need a little help these days.  Truett asked if he could give some of his "buddies" away to the people that helped donate.

These kids love building and creating!  We have some kind of palm tree at our house that needed a trim.  So, the kids took all the palm branches and made a hide out. "T & P's T-P (teepee)"

You can't put on too many dresses up clothes at once.

Truett wanted to make a flour bomb.  We went through a couple of different variations.  They first but it in a bottle and squirted it out. They then shaved some chalk, put it in a sock and threw it at each other.

The kids found worms in my Patio Oasis and mad homes for them.

I wish I had a better picture, but this is a plastic string hung over the railing that Paisley is swinging on.

They also found some lanyard string, looped it over the balcony, and tied it on to some wood.  Instant (and dangerous) swing.

 Next was a tightrope.

Homemade tetherball game.  It was fun, but I had to hold it since it didn't stand up on its own.  We stopped after I got hit in the face a few times.

That's Paisley's chariot.  They made a harness for Truett to pull her.  This was the first version.  Truett made a second version and then had me run up and down the street pulling him.  We got some strange looks!

Crazy hair day at (Zoom) school.

The kids did research projects at school.  Truett researched inventors and Paisley researched the ocean.  They both had to present their findings.  Truett made a website (https://sites.google.com/view/truettswebsiteaboutinventers/).  Paisley made a poster with all of the facts she learned under flaps.  They both presented them very well!

Our kids had some friends over the other day.  Tru and Pais spent 45 minutes walking them through their storybook Bible.  It was great!

I'm just adding this picture because it sure looks like I have a lot of freckles!

He cut off all of his curls!!

This boy never naps, but here he is catching a quick 15 minute power nap.
