Through My Mom's Eyes

With a fresh set of eyes, we see things that we miss on a daily basis.  Here are some of the things that my mom has found interesting.

I'm not sure what all of this meat is, but it sure doesn't look like the meat I'm used to!

Just some mannequins at the local "WalMart."

The roads in our neighborhood.  They aren't always like this.
They're worse because of all of the rain from rainy season.

And some traffic.  Mom is not too keen on the traffic here or the lack of traffic laws!

You think America started the food truck craze?  Not so much.  These little food carts have been around for ages!

Some sites around town . . .

People don't have clothes dryers, so they hang their laundry out wherever it will get
the most sun, often on the front porch.

Local fruit seller.

Any Carlos Santana fans out there?

A strip mall.

Cemetery

It isn't every day that you see an orange and black striped iguana on the side of the road.  That thing was HUGE!

Dokars, or horse drawn carriages, are a form of local transportation, but I mostly just see tourist in them.

Just a view down a street.

Some sites in our neighborhood . . .

We should sweep the leaves off the street several times a day.
Let's be honest, though, we're lucky if it gets swept once a day!

The "kinkos" down the street, for all of your copying needs.

Check out the scaffolding.

Michael's favorite place to buy nasi goreng (fried rice).

This is where we take the kids' uniforms to be cleaned.  I don't mind washing them,
but this place will iron them, too.  Ironing is not high up on my "things I enjoy" list.

Out of eggs?  We just walk down the street and buy a few.
They may be covered in chicken poop, but this place is convenient.
