Last Christmas Post

Christmas time is over, but our kids still talk about it almost everyday.  They love Christmas decorations!  I've finally taken down the Christmas tree, but not before it was undecorated and redecorated several times.  They are going to miss the tree, all of the nativity scenes they had out to play with, the stuffed animal reindeer, and their little Elf, Mickey Mouse Elf.  We had a couple of other Christmas celebrations I want to share with you.
One of our exchange students here asked if she and another student could bring their families over for an international Christmas dinner.  Of course!  I thought it would be our family, these two girls, and their parents.  A couple of days before the dinner was going to happen, I found out there would be a few more people than I thought.  Then more . . . and more . . . and more.  We ended up with 27 people in the house for dinner.  Thankfully, we didn't have to make any food, only provide the drinks.  AND the student's mother who was here delegated dish washing duty when the night was over.  We had food from Australia, the Netherlands, Korea, and America.  They also brought little gifts for the kids and us.

Still posing with those mannequins and cutouts!

For the week or so leading up to Christmas, we ate dinner in front of the tv and watched a Christmas movie.  The kids loved it.  Well, at least Truett did.  Paisley doesn't have quite the attention span, yet.

Our church had a Christmas service the Sunday following Christmas.  It was a nice time with music and a candlelight portion.  Truett had been singing Away in a Manger and doing a really good job.  We asked him if he wanted to sing it in front of our friends and church.  He was all for it!  So, after the service there was a reception time and they let him sing it there.  He had a piano accompaniment and a microphone and everything.  He did an outstanding job!  Unfortunately, his mic wasn't turned on, but the one another little girl grabbed was.  I'll post the youtube link for you.  You can't really hear him in this video, but you can at least see him sing his first solo.  We were quite proud!

Our community had a Natalan service, a Christmas celebration.  We sang Christmas carols (I just sang them in English), and listened to speaker after speaker in Indonesian.  Needless to say, the kids weren't so interested.  So, we sat outside and watched The Lego Movie!

At last, but not least, we finally succeeded in our epic "Search for Santa."  Well, kind of.  We found his workshop, but I guess he was out for a cup of hot cocoa.  At every other chance to find Santa, the kids were in their Christmas frocks.  However, we had given up and went out in these fine clothes.  Oh well, cute picture, right?
