Ladies' Indonesian Club

When we first moved to Indonesia, our neighbor invited me to be a part of the Ladies' International Club.  It is a group of ladies who were professors (or had husbands who were professors) at one of the major universities in our city.  It was started back in the 1960's when there were many expats teaching at the university.  Nowadays, there are really not many visiting professors here, but the club still perseveres.  Recently, however, these little old ladies have decided that the "international" part of the club (which means speaking English) is too difficult, so it is now the Ladies' Indonesian Club.  I guess since I was really the only international part of the club, it makes sense.
Each month, the gathering is hosted by a different set of five or six ladies.  We sometimes have speakers, sometimes presentations, or perhaps learn a new craft.  Recently, we have had a lady teaching photography, a lesson on the anklung (a traditional Indonesian instrument), a dance competition, and some karaoke.
This past month, after the karaoke, the group gathered to sing a song.  it was to the tune of "Amazing Grace."  It was quite the sight to see a group of women, most dressed in hijabs, to sing a song that sounded like "Amazing Grace."  I learned that it was actually a song about Indonesia, but I stood to the side and sang the words I know.

We always get a little snack box when we arrive with some traditional Indonesian goodies.  Then, there's a nice buffet lunch after the main presentation.

This is our group.  Michael refers to them as "The Real Housewives of Yogyakarta."
Am I easy enough to spot in the group???
