Sumba

I was looking through pictures for this blog post and realized I had not posted these pictures of Sumba, yet.  Back in October, when Larry and Jaletta were here, we went to the small island of Sumba.  Larry and Jaletta led a couple of conferences/seminars and a service in a village.  I'll explain the pictures as we go . . .

 We're off!

We started off with a meal with some local pastors.

Ethics and Psychology

 We had a few visitors.

 Outside the room.

They gave us all pieces of cloth as a "thank you."

All kids like to play with tablets!

This is the kids' good friend.  He stayed with us for a week before we went to Sumba.  Then we got to visit him in his hometown.

The second day, we started a couple of hours late.  These first pictures of are about 45 minutes after it was supposed to start!

 And it starts . . .

This is what the kids and I got to do during the conference.

And we go to the village . . .

These are the houses.  Notice that some have tin roofs and some have roofs that are covered in grass.  As a family makes more money, they are able to add more to it.

 Decorations.

Underneath the houses are pens for pigs.

Yep, they've got Texas shirts on.

These two elderly ladies were having a great time dancing!

Larry's platform was on top of a grave.

Truett loved seeing the little pigs.

After we drove away, the kids chased us for a couple hundred yards.
