Halloween

We had a last minute halloween party this year.  The young adults at our church put it together, we just opened up our home for it.  We had a potluck dinner, played games, and watched a movie.  A good time was had by all!

The Things We See

I thought it was time for another installment of  "The Things We See."  Here we go.

We'll start with some bits of raw chicken and other appetizing delicacies.

I don't remember what that thing on the left is, but the one on the right is snail sate (like a shish kebab)!

I'm not sure about this one!

This one is helpful to me.  It translates parts of the cow from Indonesian to English.

This is a new one.  You can buy towels by weight!  It's just like you buy fruit at the supermarket.  WHAT?!?!

Want to be taller?  Call this number to get therapy to make your body taller.

Things on a motorcycle.

This first one was right after the day of sacrifice for another religion.

This one on the left is a guy sitting backwards on the back of a motorcycle pulling a lawnmower.  The one on the right is a guy with a bicycle.

Can you see who the two characters on either side of the characters from Big Hero Six?

Who needs a cattle trailer???

Dieng Plateau

A couple of weekends ago, some of us from our church here went to Dieng Plateau.  It was about a 5 hour bus ride away, up a mountain.  I would like to say we had a great time . . . well, we did have a good time with friends.  However, it was COLD and WET!  It was about 50 degrees and raining the whole time.  That kind of put a damper on things.  As we were outside the whole day, we were . . . hmmm . . . okay, we were pretty miserable.  I'm sure we would have had a lovely time if it hadn't been raining.  In fact, the temperature was quite nice.  The rain, not so nice.  We did get to see some beautiful temples, smell some stinky sulfur springs, and have fun with friends.

We bought some corn on the side of the road.  It was steamed corn covered in sweetened condensed milk.
I would HIGHLY recommend it.  Truett loved it, too!

The picture on the left shows our true feelings.  The picture on the right is Truett and me smiling for the camera!

The views around our homestay were beautiful.  Outside the front door, we had potato farmers.  Around the other sides of the house, we saw amazing views of rice fields.

It's never too cold to play cards and tickle kids!
